VILAR AMERICA HOTEL: New facade
Project type
New Image, Storefront renovation
Date
2020
Location
Bogotá, Colombia
Located in Bogotá’s Chapinero district, Hotel Villar engaged our team to redesign two of its 60-year-old storefronts and the main lobby. Working within the operational constraints of an active hotel, we designed and implemented a custom steel façade that draws inspiration from the myth of Baucis and Philemon. This classical narrative—embraced by the hotel owners as a symbol of hospitality—tells the story of an elderly couple transformed into intertwined trees as a reward for their generosity.
The façade features abstract representations of a linden and an oak tree, symbolizing unity and enduring welcome. This poetic design language was extended to a second building on the property, where we created a breakfast terrace that harmonizes with the overall aesthetic. The result is a modern, distinctive identity that reflects both the mythological roots and the values of the hospitality industry.
